Saying for Writers #25

Another Quotation which Might (or Might Not) Inspire You to Write:

“Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.” - Moliere

  1. On a practical note, this is true. Writers wish to be paid for doing what they love, like anyone. We know we'd write, regardless, because to not write would be to feel a loss of magnitude in life. Writing allows writers to put things into perspective while providing us a much necessary outlet in which to express ourselves creatively; it satisfies that involuntary urge of calling. However, the reality is that writers also have bills, mortgages, grocery needs, etc. - and the best situation is to be paid for doing what you love.
